What is The Big Q?

The Big Q is the big question everyone is asking. Each week a hot topic will be introduced for you and your class to collaborate and communicate on.

There are two ways to join in. Simply answer the Big Q directly by clicking the Submit Answer button or pose a related question by clicking the Submit Question. In both cases you’ll be taken to the right screen to enter your response.

How to submit a question

You might want to pose a question relating to the Big Q for other classes to answer. The Submit Question screen allows you to do just that. In Step 1 you key in your question. Then in Step 2 you can choose how you want others to respond.

Selecting how you want others to respond to your question

Just like Activexpression there are different ways to interact:

Free text entry
Multiple choice
Numeric response
Sort in order
Yes / No / Don’t know

You can do exactly the same via the virtual Activexpression device. If you’d like a conversational response, select Free Text Entry. If you’d prefer answers that you can turn into a chart or graph, select Multiple Choice or Sort in Order. When you’re happy, just click on Submit to pose your question to the online community.

How to submit an answer

Once you’ve discussed the question in class and decided on your answer you’ll need to submit it online. There are two ways to do it on the Submit Answer screen. You can key in your answer using your computer keyboard or have fun responding via the virtual Activexpression device.

Choosing the right way to respond

You’ll be asked to answer each question in a specific way. For example, one class may want you to provide a short, written summary, in which case you’d use Free Text Entry.

Alternatively, you may be asked to respond by sorting items in order of importance. Simply use the highlighted keys to submit your response.

Your class activity monitor

The activity monitor gives you a visual summary of your class’s participation on If I Ruled The World.com. The more you interact with the site, the more your progress bar will increase. To get started, just go to the Big Q.
